Café Chantant

Well-known songs, heartwarming harmonies, and music that evokes memories: Café Chantant pays tribute to Dutch-language cabaret. The ensemble focuses primarily on the work of Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List. Songs by artists such as Robert Long, Rob de Nijs, and Toon Hermans are also featured.

A musical journey full of familiar moments

The flute, recorder, percussion, accordion, keyboard, and often three-part harmonies give the songs a unique, rich sound. You’ll hear classics like “Laat me,” “Pastorale,” “Waarom huil je nou?” and “De appels en het tafelsprei.” A concert that leaves room for nostalgia, melancholy, and joy.

Café Chantant was founded by keyboardist, accordionist, and arranger Arjan Bruinsma. Together with singer and multi-instrumentalist Janneke van Heeswijk and flutist and singer Marjolein Kempen, he forms the ensemble. The group performs regularly in Dutch theaters and cultural centers.
