4.5-star cycling province

Zeeland is a 4.5-star cycling province, and we are proud of that! There are hundreds of kilometers of different cycling routes here. Routes for recreational cycling, mountain biking, or road cycling. Across the countryside, along the water, through the woods, or the dunes. All cycling routes in Zeeland can be found at www.zeeland.com.

Easily plan your cycling route

With the Zeeland cycle junction system (FIKS), you can plan your own cycle route. Whether you want to cycle long distances or just go for a short ride. Cycle inside or outside the dykes, with the wind at your back or enjoying views over the water. You decide your own route with FIKS.

Junction numbers

Each junction on the FIKS network has a number. These junctions make it easy to plan your own bike ride. Write down the junction numbers on a piece of paper or save them on your phone, and you're ready to go. You can plan your route via this website.

FIKS signs

On all FIKS roads and paths, you will encounter white signs with green lettering. At intersections, junctions, and turn-offs, there are signs with a directional arrow. These signs also show the number of the junction you are cycling to. The FIKS has double-sided signage. This means it doesn't matter which way you cycle along the route. You can go either clockwise or counterclockwise.

FIKS cards

In Zeeland, we have various FIKS cards:

  • Zeeland North: Schouwen-Duiveland, Goeree-Overflakkee, and Sint Philipsland.
  • Central Zeeland: Walcheren, the Bevelanden, and Tholen.
  • South Zeeland: Zeeland Flanders.

You can purchase the FIKS card for Central Zeeland at:

  • Camping Linda, Oostelijke Kanaalweg 4 in Wemeldinge
  • Hotel Brasserie Smits, Wilhelminastraat 90 in Wemeldinge
  • Wemeldinge Marina, Sluisplateau 31 in Wemeldinge
  • Lectori Bookstore, Weststraat 9-11 in Kapelle

Zeeland bicycle cafés

Stop off at one of Zeeland's bicycle cafés. These are bicycle-friendly establishments that offer various facilities especially for cyclists. You can eat or drink something, refill your water bottle, or use the restroom. If necessary, you can also repair your tire there. The bicycle cafés are signposted from the cycle junction network, so they are easy to find.

Round trip by ferry

There used to be more than 100 different ferries in Zeeland. These have been replaced by dams, bridges, and tunnels. During the summer months, various ferries operate again to take you and your bike to another part of Zeeland. You can plan your own route from junction to junction. This makes it easy to cycle through the whole of Zeeland!

The ferry that sails nearby is Frisia 2, from Yerseke to Gorishoek. More information and a download link for the booklet Zeeland ferries can be found on the website Zeeland.com.
