Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides During Open Monument Day in Kapelle

Saturday, September 12, is Open Monument Day. You can climb the church tower in Kapelle and enjoy the sweeping view. On a clear day, you can see all the way from the Oosterschelde to the Westerschelde. Between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., the Kerkplein will be the setting for the sjezen ride. It’s a festive spectacle featuring decorated horses and sjezen, as well as a “farmer” and “farmwife” dressed in traditional costume who work together with the utmost precision to thread the ring. Will you come watch?
