Zeeland tradition

Tilting at the ring is a true Zeeland tradition that takes place in the summer months. While riding an unsaddled horse, the horsemen try to spear a ring on their lance. In the tradition of Beveland this is done with a small lance (‘kort stokje’). This is different from the tradition on the neighbouring peninsula of Walcheren, where the participants use a long lance. For more information and the game calendar, visit the website of the Zeeuwse Ringrijders Vereniging (in Dutch).
