In 2024, Claire was the de children’s mayor of the municipality of Kapelle. See below for her Top 10 of favourite fun things to do in our municipality.

1. . Wemeldinge Beach

Going for a swim on Wemeldinge Beach, because it is a wonderful place and the beach is clean. You can look for shells, catch crabs, play beach volleyball, or just lie on your bath towel.

2. Hof Keizersweel

In Hof Keizersweel in Wemeldinge, you will see special animals, such as camels and kangaroos. They also organise super chill workshops and kids’ parties.

3. Pony riding day at Stal Schouten

The pony riding day at Stal Schouten in Wemeldinge is perfect for horse lovers. You can learn how to ride a horse and how to groom it. Nothing beats riding in the outdoors!

4. Swimming pool De Bloesem

In swimming pool De Bloesem in Kapelle, you can swim indoors. So, you can go swimming even when it rains. I always bring my mermaid tail, of course!

5. Kids holiday week ‘Rommeldam’

The kids holiday week is a week filled with adventure! Building dens, going on scavenger hunts, and making new friends. Mind you: this is only for kids from the municipality of Kapelle.

6. Kapelse Moer

Kapelse Moer is a beautiful scenic area for birdwatching. It is a quiet and relaxing place. Remember to bring your binoculars!

7. Cycling along the water

Cycle alongside the Oosterschelde or Westerschelde River and have a picnic amid the fruit trees.

8. Skatepark De Bloesem

At skate park De Bloesem in Kapelle, you can practise your tricks on the ramps. It is a super fun place for practising and for making and meeting friends.

9. The Westerschelde River

Watch the huge vessels go by on their way to Antwerp. Who knows, you may even spot a seal!

10. ZeeuwsFruitMuseum

At the ZeeuwsFruitMuseum in Kapelle, you will learn all there is to know about fruit. You can also take part in a fun scavenger hunt through the orchards.
