In 2024, Claire served as the youth mayor of the municipality of Kapelle. Below is her top 10 list of her favorite things to do in our municipality.

1. Wemeldinge Beach

Go swimming at Wemeldinge Beach—it’s lovely here and the beach is clean. You can look for shells, catch crabs, play beach volleyball, or just relax on your beach towel.

2. Keizersweel Court

At Hof Keizersweel in Wemeldinge, you’ll find unique animals like camels and kangaroos. They also host fun workshops and children’s parties there.

3. Pony Day Camp at Stal Schouten

The pony day camp at Stal Schouten in Wemeldinge is perfect for horse lovers. You’ll learn how to ride and take care of the horses. The trail ride is my favorite part.

4. De Bloesem Swimming Pool

At De Bloesem pool in Kapelle, you can enjoy swimming indoors. So even if it rains, you can still go swimming. Of course, I always bring my mermaid tail.

5. Rommeldam Children's Vacation Week

The kids' summer camp is a week full of adventure! Building forts, going on scavenger hunts, and making new friends together. However, only children who live in the municipality of Kapelle are eligible to participate.

6. The Kapelse Moer

The Kapelse Moer is a beautiful nature reserve for birdwatching. It’s peaceful and relaxing. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars!

7. Cycling along the water

Cycle along the Oosterschelde or Westerschelde and have a picnic among the fruit trees.

8. Skatepark at De Bloesem

At De Bloesem Skatepark in Kapelle, you can practice tricks on the ramps. It’s a really fun place to practice and meet (new) friends.

9. The Western Scheldt

Take a look at the huge ships heading for Antwerp. And who knows, you might even spot a seal!

10. Zeeland Fruit Museum

At the ZeeuwsFruitMuseum in Kapelle, you can learn all about fruit. And you can take part in a fun scavenger hunt through the orchards.
