Discover the Kapelse Moer with a guide

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, you can take a guided walk through the Kapelse Moer. This is a unique opportunity, as this special nature reserve is normally closed to the public. This helps ensure peace and quiet and protects nature. During the excursion, a forest ranger will take you through one of Zeeland’s oldest cultural landscapes. You’ll discover how water, peat, and human activity have shaped the landscape and why it’s home to rare plants and meadow birds today. The Kapelse Moer is part of the Yerseke and Kapelse Moer Natura 2000 site. Natura 2000 is a European network of nature reserves where rare plants, animals, and their habitats are protected.

Who is this hike suitable for?

The hike is suitable for adults and families with children ages 10 and up. It is important that everyone be able to walk well. The landscape, which consists of peat bogs and marshes, does not have paved trails, so be sure to wear boots or sturdy shoes. Dogs are not allowed.
