French cemetery

The French War Cemetery is located right next to the municipal cemetery in Kapelle at Kitskinderscheweg 1. There is an information sign at the entrance, and the French War Cemetery is accessible on foot. This war cemetery features two monuments: a wall of names with a column and mosaic, and a column topped with the Gallic rooster.

After World War II, the remains of all soldiers who had died under the French flag on Dutch soil and were not repatriated to France were buried here. The remains of French, Moroccan, and Algerian soldiers, as well as one Syrian soldier, are interred here. The municipality of Kapelle holds an annual commemoration at the French cemetery.
