The municipality of Kapelle comprises two hamlets: Eversdijk and Abbekinderen. The hamlet of Eversdijk was a separate municipality until 1815, when it was incorporated into the municipality of Kapelle. Abbekinderen is a hamlet that lies partly within the municipality of Kapelle and partly within the municipality of Goes.

Eversdijk

Eversdijk was founded in the 11th century and was situated deep within a peat bog. The village owes its existence to the peat, which was excavated and then sold. The name refers to a man named Everdeis, about whom little else is known, who had the villagers construct local dikes. The village was established at the intersection of two roads. A connecting road completed the village center. The descendants of Everdeis had a church built, dedicated to St. Paul. The church in the nearby village of 's-Heer Abtskerke served as the mother church of Eversdijk. Ultimately, the village was unable to develop further. A major reason for this was the peat extraction, which was becoming increasingly depleted. In 1815, Eversdijk merged with Kapelle. By around 1821, the church had fallen into such disrepair that it had to be demolished. Today, Eversdijk consists of several farms and homes along the medieval church ring road, Kerkhofweg, and Eversdijkseweg.

Abbe's children

Abbekinderen is part of the village of Kloetinge and was also part of the municipality of Kloetinge. A large part of the hamlet was assigned to the municipality of Kapelle during the municipal reorganization. The residents’ official place of residence is still Kloetinge (municipality of Goes). Another (small) part is included within the built-up area of the city of Goes.
